Hi! I’m Megg

This is that awkward moment when you’ve signed up for a workshop and you have to introduce yourself to the class and share a bit about yourself. I’m not a big fan of talking about myself, but here is the gist.

After dealing with a life changing event, I did some self reflecting on what brings me joy. When I thought of my “happy place”, I was in the mountains just making, creating, exploring. So I decided to take the first steps to get me there. Growing up with an artist mother, I was exposed to so many mediums of art and all of them intrigued me. I’ve discovered that I am most drawn to textile art, but I don’t dare limit myself to one thing. I love to try it all! (PS, I’m terrible at painting)

To me, art comes out of visual stimulation. I am an observer. I enjoy looking at objects, shapes, patterns, nature, people and sometimes it stimulates something in my head that sparks a new idea. The art comes from trying to translate that spark into something visual. I am most inspired by geometric shapes, nature, lines and primitive cultural art forms and patterns found on textiles and pottery.

The thing I love most about art is the feeling you get when a piece speaks to you and you just want to absorb it into your being. Nothing makes me happier than seeing another person have a real appreciation for my work. I believe art is an energetic connection between people and across time.
